Young Specialists’ Forum (YSF) Elections 2025 – 2028

Renewed Call for Nominations for the 2025 -2028 Young Specialists’ Forum

The CMSA recently embarked on the nomination process for the 2025 -2028 Triennium Elections for the Young Specialists’ Forum. These elections are important in establishing the first-ever formal structure for Young Specialists in the CMSA.

We placed a call for nominations for each of the CMSA’s constituent colleges. However, we received no or only one nomination for some Constituent College. As the YSF will comprise of 2 specialists per discipline, elected by the Young Specialist members of their College, we are reopening the call for nominations. This call for nominations will run for one week, from Monday 18th to Friday 22 November. It is important that all Colleges are represented on the YSF, so please consider making a nomination. You may not nominate yourself, but If you are happy to stand for election, please feel free to engage colleagues in your Constituent College to nominate you.

The following Constituent Colleges received three or more nominations, and will proceed to the elections phase:

  • College of Emergency Medicine
  • College of Neurosurgeons
  • College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists
  • College of Paediatric Surgeons
  • College of Paediatricians
  • College of Pathologists
  • College of Physicians
  • College of Public Health Medicine
  • College of Surgeons

The following Constituent Colleges only had two nominations, and the nominees are duly elected:

  • College of Clinical Pharmacologists
  • College of Dentistry
  • College of Dermatologists
  • College of Family Physicians
  • College of Neurologists
  • College of Orthopaedic Surgeons
  • College of Plastic Surgeons

The following Constituent Colleges had one or no nominations and a call for nominations has been reopened.

  • College of Anaesthetists
  • College of Cardiothoracic Surgeons
  • College of Forensic Pathologists
  • College of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons
  • College of Medical Geneticists
  • College of Nuclear Physicians
  • College of Ophthalmologists
  • College of Otorhinolaryngologists
  • College of Psychiatrists
  • College of Radiation Oncologists
  • College of Radiologists
  • College of Urologists

The process will be the same as  the initial process that was conducted for the call of nominations:

Step 1: To nominate a Young Specialist

  • A unique ID link is embedded in this email and is sent to each Young Specialist member of your Constituent College in good standing. This link has been specifically generated for a single user i.e. each Young Specialist gets their own unique link.
  • This link will direct you to the CMSA Young Specialists Elections page.
  • Your Constituent College name will appear at the top and in a tab below, a prompt to search for members that you wish to nominate or second will appear.
  • Once you have selected the members you wish to nominate, you will need to digitally sign the nomination form and submit your nomination.

Step 2: To Second a Young Specialist

  • Each nomination must be seconded by another Young Specialist in your constituent college.
  • Using the unique ID link provided to access the Elections platform, you can search for a nominee using the search input
  • Click on the second button
  • Digitally sign and submit the form.

Please note that:

  • You may nominate up to two members, and only nominate members in your Constituent College.
  • For nominations to be valid, the two steps above must be completed (a member must be nominated and seconded by fellow Young Specialists in their College).

Sincerely

Professor Eric Buch
CEO
