Specialist medicine has a unique role in enhancing health and health care in Africa. However, many of the links in the specialist value chain in Africa and South Africa are under stress. Unless these stresses are resolved, and developments along the entire value chain of specialist development is realized, the goals of the NHI in South Africa and Universal Access across the continent will not be met. There is much experience to share and many exciting innovations from South Africa and across the continent are there to show the way forward.
The purpose of the Conference is to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges, learn from innovations, grow a collective set of solutions, and plant the seeds for broad-based partnerships to advance the contribution of specialist medicine in South Africa and Africa. Although the conference is hybrid, presenters are expected to be in person.
