Prof Jacques du Toit

President

Prof Jacques du Toit is the Associate Professor and Head of Division: Orthopaedic Surgery-University of Stellenbosch Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Tygerberg Academic Hospital.Prof Du Toit is a Paediatric Orthopaedic Specialist at Lady Michaelis Paediatric Orthopaedic Unit, Tygerberg Academic Hospital and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University. Prof Du Toit was the President: CMSA Orthopaedic Council during the 2020-2023 triennium and has been an Executive Committee member of SAOA since 2016.He is an Editorial Board Member: South African Orthopaedic Journal. He is a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology: Long term effects of orthopaedics interventions on gait in adults with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy and holds a PhD: Ageing with Cerebral Palsy after being treated with Orthopaedic Interval Surgery Approach during childhood. His Publications include 12 International and 7 National publications.Prof Du Toit has delivered more than 80 Scholarly Presentations at Congresses and Educational Courses and has supervised 3 PHDs, 3 MSCs and 15 MMed dissertations. He is the Clinical Director of STEPS, a charity for the enhancement of clubfoot care throughout Southern Africa. Prof Du Toit is passionate about postgraduate education and are actively involved within these spheres at the CMSA, Stellenbosch University and at National level.As part of the CMSA College of Orthopaedics council team, and the last 3 years as president, he has contributed to the developing examination methodology as well as a continuous evaluation module that ensure that our exams is non-biased, evidence based and incorporate all the skills that is required to become a balanced orthopaedic surgeon within the South African context.Prof Du Toit commented that it is an honour and privilege to continue to serve the orthopaedic community and CMSA.
