- Candidates will be required to successfully complete a minimum of 15-months of education and training under the supervision of a Higher Education Institution recognised by the CMSA for such purpose
- Evidence of education and training will be provided in the form of a successfully completed portfolio of learning

Exit Examination: 1 written MCQ paper of three (3) hours duration. Clinical examination (OSCE)
THIS EXAMINATION IS ONLY OFFERED ONCE ANNUALLY DURING THE SECOND SEMESTER SET OF EXAMINATIONS.
The awarding of medals is decided by the exam steering committee of each semester’s examination (convener, moderator, president, secretary and the writing group chairs). Outlined below are the criteria medal from the CFP.
The Basil Jaffe Medal - Awarded to the top performing candidate in the Higher Diploma in Family Medicine.
Certificates of Merit -Â Awarded to all candidates who have marks of 20% or more above the standard set cut score, or 75% or above in non-standard set exams.

Since 2021, CMSA examinations have been conducted on an online platform. As a result, the questions remain within the secure question bank and can no longer be published on the website.

PLEASE NOTE that candidates that wish to lodge an appeal against the outcome of his/her written examination results must do so in accordance with the provisions of the CMSA’s Appeals Mechanism Policy. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) are not made available to candidates for review in accordance with the CMSA’s Appeals Mechanism Policy.Â
